How to make the most out of organising the office xmas party

HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OUT OF ORGANISING THE OFFICE XMAS PARTY

As the party organiser you should enjoy the event, and remember, that creating a great party will also create a great impression with your colleagues!

Create a teaser sometime before the Christmas party: introduce a Rubik’s cube man, who will give cubes to all people in the office, if you plan the 80ies Christmas or a Candy Girl, who will treat everyone with candyfloss or sweets, if you plan Cabaret or Circus party. Their aim is to introduce the “See you at the party” message and tell them «Hasta la vista, baby!»

«Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow» – as Frank Sinatra sings every Christmas. It’s a winter party after all and the snowfall (even the artificial one) will contribute to the whole atmosphere. The snow could be incorporated anywhere in the party scenario – when the guests arrive, during some performance or dancing. Transform the snow in the frosty ornament on the windows or accumulate in non-melting snowdrifts here and there.

If you are tight in budget – spend it on one super enterntainment act – the quality of the perfomance is extremely important, no matter what kind of performance it is – a band or show, or circus act. The quality of an outstanding performance will be evaluated and remembered by everyone.

If you have not started planning and booking the venues yet – start doing it right now, otherwise you might end up with whatever is left on the market – as well as the music think about magicians with the card tricks, fortune tellers or a troupe of dancers.

Resist the temptaion of accepting the offer of “all inclusive” Christmas party, where you could get “all you can eat” Christmas for just £100 per person – where you (and a dozen of other companies) will be offered both venue, food and enterntainment in the Winter Wonderland or All thet Jazz theme. There are some nice exeptions, though, but such offers usually limit your creative input.

If you think of the dress code for the party, do not insist that a fancy dress is a must – the office people do not have enough time for themselves, let alone the corporate loyalty. Introduce various accessories for everyone at the event or set up a mini-studio, where the hair and make up artists will style your guests in the theme of the party within minutes.

Create a music “wish list” at the Christmas party web site or at any other corporate resource – everyone should make a contribution to the list and put their favourite song on it! Every guest will dance when their songs is rocking the party!

Don’t forget about nice and useful mini-gifts for the guests at the end of the party – something they will carry all the time, keeping the memories of that corporate Christmas.
