The ideal scenario of the party could be Johnny Depp as an entertainer, huge chocolate fountains, unlimited sweets and Umpa Lumps dancing. However, being aware that not all parents would appreciate unlimited chocolate being eaten by their small children, while organising the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed birthday party, our aim was to create an atmosphere as close to the story as possible, but still not to have too much chocolate around!
The party mood was set by a gigantic backdrop with a scene from the movie, covering all the wall.
To make this chocolate factory world even more real we put huge lollipops, ice cream sundaes, sugar canes and coloured topiaries with the artificial grass extension so that the children could play right in front of this chocolate kingdom
The highlight of the party was an amazing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory three tiered cake!

To somehow limit the amount of sweets, we built the confectionary up on one dessert table in order to make a real sweet installation
Bunting, cupcakes and small colourful wooden letters carried the Happy Birthday message and the name of the birthday girl. The traditional cupcakes and sweets were mixed with unusual pop cakes
and genuine American Wonka sweets we managed to find in a tiny Brighton sweet shop
All the children as well as adults preferred to take pictures with all these sweets rather than eating them straight away, but all of them were gone at the end of the party and only the ones in flower and sweets arrangements for some mysterious reason remained untouched...
A chocolate fountain is a must for the chocolate party, but the parent's brief to avoid too much of it where possible was still in our mind - so, the solution was a baby fountain at the end after the kids had their lunch - everybody had a chance to put a strawberry and a marshmallow into the chocolate and have a bite.
The guests left the party with goody bags with Willie Wonka's DVDs and books to treat themselves and the parents afterwards!
